Huge Range of Career Options

Although GLS lawyers work in individual Government Departments, they benefit from a far wider range of career and development opportunities across a broad swathe of Government activity.

As a GLS lawyer, the choice is yours whether to move around the Service or to establish a career in one Department or specialisation. Either option brings with it the potential for a richly rewarding career. You also have the option of moving to other Departments or organisations on loan, both within the GLS and outside it. While Departments and staff will plan job moves, many happen as a result of posts being advertised throughout Government. These could be transfers at comparable levels of responsibility, or they could provide opportunities for career progression.
