Trainee Remuneration

Legal trainees have a starting salary of over £22,640 (for posts in central London). Pay scales are set by individual departments.

The GLS will pay your Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Vocational Course (BVC) fees in full provided you have not yet started the course. Where the course has begun, the GLS will pay your fees for the remainder. We cannot make any retrospective payments to candidates who have successfully completed the course. We have no preference which Law or Bar school you attend. We will also provide you with a grant of about £5,000 - £7,000 for the vocational year.

Funding may be available for the GDL and, if you are successful in your application, you should ask the department which makes you an offer about this.

To view the GLS-wide benefits on offer, please go to the Benefits & Rewards area.
